When we bought our 1933 Craftsman-style bungalow home {at least that's how it was described on the listing} we loved so many things about it...the character and charm that is only found in older homes, the mouldings, the old windows {minus the drafts}, the basement — that is, the fact that it had one, the eat-in kitchen, a front porch, the backyard, just to name a few.
We also loved the space up the curved stairs. A wide open room with a small {tiny} nook that we could only imagine the possibilities for. The nook doubled in size after we renovated the upstairs to become a master bedroom with a walk-in closet and storage areas. Over the years it has been a place for the ironing board, a reading area, a second nursery, and now a home office space. I recently rearranged the furniture and brought out an old bookcase that I found in the attic and, aside from finding the perfect little rug, I love it!
The desk was given to us — it's Pottery Barn. It has a matching chalkboard. I found the chair in my Mom's garage and added a Pier One cushion. The bookcase is Home Goods.
Family photos. A card from sissy. Some of my favorite books. A chick — with a pink flower in her hair.
I am loving the new space. It's well lit and cozy. Looking forward to adding a few more little touches and the space is complete.
Have you created any new spaces in your home? Brought out any old furniture? Found a piece in your Mom's garage?
Have fun!
